This is the time of year I really start focusing on detailed river clean up / wildlife rescue / monitoring work.

It soon starts to get too cold to do the 6+ hour touring trips I am accustomed to, although I do make an exception when I take part in the State D.E.P. Bald Eagle accounting which is done in early January of each year....

 The amount of debris  and trash the mighty Housatonic River has to live with and endure is beyond belief.

I still get into these huge discussions with those who are pro greenways, something which I am not.

Greenways = Death.

Nobody benifits from them whatsoever, certainly not the animals or nature.

Since the park has been opened up on O'Sullivan's Island in Derby, the litter situation has gotten 10x worse.

I know, because I'm the one who deals with the clean-ups on an on-going basis...

People are the problem. Simple as that. If you want to introduce pollution to a former wild area, best way to do it is by bringing in the people. Because people only consume and destroy. It's the American way after all...

I was hoping to write an indepth analysis regarding the state of our rivers out here - but for some reason I can't.  I am sad, feeling sorrow, lately something which is only what I know.

Sometimes I wonder if the amount of work I put in year round is causing me to burn out. 

Will I reach a point whereI no longer care about the AIR TREES WATER or ANIMALS??

God, I hope not...
